I came across a forum post suggesting that others try psychedelics, it was posted by someone who knew little about the subject and wanted to learn more without personal experience. I posted a few thoughts and figured I’d share:
Drugs are a rather taboo subject, they can appear to open doors (though I think of them more as windows), bring you great deals of pleasure, or suck you in to lifetimes of pain.
Drugs are powerful tools, as such they must be treated with respect, if you have an addictive personality then you would do well to stay away. If you do not consider yourself a very stable person then please stay away.
I like what was said about Ayahuasca being a “taste of enlightenment”, it is produced by combining DMT and an MAOI inhibitor allowing it to be absorbed through the stomach. DMT is a chemical produced by your pineal gland (located in the center of your frontal lobe) it spikes when you dream or meditate, is in much higher levels in babies and children than most adults, and has a great deal more questions surrounding it than solid answers. MAOI inhibitors can get to be rather dangerous as they block your bodies natural defenses against a number of nasty substances (such as cows milk).
I’ve heard more than one wise men state that once you have accessed the states of consciousness that drugs provide your ability to access those states naturally is diminished.
Want an easy high? Go to a park, hop on the merry go round and spin yourself silly.
Not easy enough? Google “Breath of Fire” and go practice for a few minutes.
Want to learn about yourself? Well I think that Steve covers that subject rather well
Want to try psychedelics? Find yourself a friend who knows what they are doing to keep an eye on you, a nice dark quiet room, and be prepared to scare the hell out of yourself.
5 dried grams of mushrooms will do the trick most everytime, doesn’t sound like much? Then you haven’t tried it or you were to distracted by your surroundings to notice what was going on.
One thing I will say, stick with plants, the more natural the better, the most natural is to do the same thing with the dark quiet room for a few minutes or hours every day or so, on your own in “meditation” while it takes longer to access higher states many if not most of the lessons learned either way overlap and you will be able to go much further in the end than relying upon an external source for your enlightenment.
Just my 2 cents
